Digital Forensics: The Process of Cyber Crime Investigation

Abstract

This review paper discusses how an
investigation of the cybercrime scene is done
physically and digitally. It highlights and
explains the steps in a forensics investigation
process of crimes that involve computer and
technology-based crimes. The steps like
Identifying the Evidence, Preserving the
Evidence, Collecting the Evidence, Examining
the Evidence, Documenting, and Reporting
help to conduct a structured and neat
investigation by keeping the evidence
untampered allowing the investigator to
extract and recover most of the important
digital data which may generate multiple
leads to direct the investigation towards the
correct path.
