As society has become increasingly dependent on mobile devices, for mobile user phantom vibrate have become a phenomenon of worry. Aim: Our research study was to assess the knowledge regarding phantom vibration syndrome among students of senior secondary school, Rajhoon, district Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. To find out the association between knowledge regarding phantom vibration syndrome among school students and with selected socio-demographic variables. A descriptive research design was selected for the study and a quantitative research approach was used in the present study. The main study was conducted at a senior secondary school, Rahjoon, district Kangra (H.P). 50 students were selected through a convenient sampling technique and a selfstructured knowledge questionnaire was used to assess the level of knowledge regarding phantom vibration syndrome. The study showed that a maximum of students (64%) had moderate knowledge of phantom vibration syndrome, a minimum of 36% had inadequate knowledge whereas 0% had adequate knowledge. There was a significant association between knowledge phantom vibration syndromes with their selected socio-demographic variables except for age.
Bharti Rana, Kushal Raj Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal of Research in Medical Surgical Nursing https://matjournals.co.in/index.php/IJRMSN/article/view/4124 Mon, 28 Aug 2023 00:00:00 +0530 Knowledge of Prevention and Practice (of Prevention) Of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) Amongst Students of Community Secondary School (CSS) Abuloma, Port Harcourt, Nigeria https://matjournals.co.in/index.php/IJRMSN/article/view/4475
The main objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between the knowledge of the principles of prevention of STIs and the practice of prevention of STIs amongst students of CSS Abuloma Port Harcourt. The correlational study design guided the study, while the Health Belief Model was the theoretical framework that underpinned the research. A total of 1,140 students constituted the study population while the balloting method was used to secure 325 respondents as the sample size for the study. The Sexually Transmitted Infection Study Scale (STISS) is the instrument used for data collection. The STISS was designed and peer-validated by the researchers. Before it was deployed for use, it was subjected to a reliability test (test-retest within a two-week interval) in a sister institution. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMCC) was used in testing the correlations between the two groups of data and the correlation was found to be 0.8. Simple percentages and mean were used in addressing the descriptive data, while chi-square was the statistics used for the relationship between the knowledge of the principles of prevention and the practice of prevention. On the whole, the students had an average knowledge of 62.7% on the principles of prevention of STIs. They also had a positive attitude of =3.13 in the principles of prevention but for the preventive practice, they had an = 2.36. They also had a statistical significance for the relationship between knowledge and prevention with a p-value 0.005 (x2= 6.828; df = 1, p-value = 0.008). Though they were on average knowledgeable on the existence of STIs and their preventive measures, there is no significant relationship between their knowledge of the principles of prevention and their practice of prevention.
Lawrence Ayah Iruo, Lilly –West, Ransome Buloala, Gloria Lewa Dappa, Rose Obele Olunwa, Pamela Awo-Ibiye Thompson Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal of Research in Medical Surgical Nursing https://matjournals.co.in/index.php/IJRMSN/article/view/4475 Thu, 16 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0530 Effectiveness of STP on Knowledge of Nursing Officers Regarding Endotracheal Tube Suctioning Working on Intensive Care Units of SKIMS Soura Srinagar, J&K https://matjournals.co.in/index.php/IJRMSN/article/view/4453
Introduction: Endotracheal tubes have been used early in previous times and have evolved continuously to their present form. Franz Kuhn made significant contributions in the early 1900s. He was the first to stress the importance of the endotracheal tube as a route for removing pulmonary secretions from the bronchotracheal tree. The objectives of the study were to assess the pre and post-test knowledge of nursing officers regarding endotracheal tube suctioning. To find the association of pre-test knowledge scores of nursing officers regarding Endotracheal tube suctioning with their selected demographic variables (age in years, gender, professional qualification, place of posting, years of working experience, attended any in-service educational /training programme regarding endotracheal tube suctioning). Methodology Pre-experimental one-group pre-test post-test design was used to assess the effectiveness of a structured teaching program on the knowledge of 50 nursing officers regarding endotracheal tube suctioning working in ICUs of SKIMS Soura, Srinagar through purposive sampling technique. The tool used was Self structured questionnaire. Results The mean post-test knowledge score of the study subjects (42.84±4.419) was significantly higher than that of the mean pre-test knowledge score (31.52±6.309) at a 0.05 level of significance. There was a significant association between the pre-test knowledge score of study subjects with demographic variables like Age (P=0.004), professional qualification (P=0.000) and years of working experience (P=0.023) at 0.05 level of significance. Conclusion The nursing officers had average knowledge and practice regarding endotracheal tube suctioning. The structured teaching program was found to be effective in improving the knowledge and practice scores of study subjects, hence there was a need to educate them regarding endotracheal tube suctioning.
Nusrat Nabi, Aisha Akhter, Zareefa Bano Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal of Research in Medical Surgical Nursing https://matjournals.co.in/index.php/IJRMSN/article/view/4453 Wed, 08 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0530 Video Game Addiction among College Students in Bangladesh https://matjournals.co.in/index.php/IJRMSN/article/view/4471
Objectives: The objective of the study was to assess video game addiction among college students in Bangladesh. Family caregivers’ burden is a crucial global concern that must be addressed early to prevent or decrease its detrimental consequences. Objective: This study aimed to assess the family caregivers’ burden of patients with Schizophrenia at a selected hospital in Bangladesh. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 110 family caregivers’ who were selected by using the convenience sampling technique. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews. After data collection, it was analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: It was found that the majority (74.55%) of the family caregivers of Schizophrenic patients experienced severe burden. Caregivers’ age; gender; marital status; level of education; residence; occupation, children number; monthly family income; duration of caregiving; duration of caregiving per day; and relationship with the patient were significantly associated with their burden. Conclusion: Family-centered interventions focusing on caregivers’ burden are required to enhance the strength of their capability to take care the patients with Schizophrenia. The findings of this study would be valuable to the health care providers including nurses and policy makers to minimize the caregivers’ burden in caring for Schizophrenic patients.
Monir Hossan Bhuiyan, Mosammet Khaleda Akter, Jinnat Rehana, Mohammad Nurul Anowar Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal of Research in Medical Surgical Nursing https://matjournals.co.in/index.php/IJRMSN/article/view/4492 Tue, 21 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0530
