Pregnant women and their newborns are an especially vulnerable group that requires urgent treatment in the current, rapidly expanding COVID-19 pandemic. This study aimed to assess staff nurses' knowledge of perinatal treatment during the COVID-19 epidemic in selected hospitals. The study's goals were to determine the staff nurses' level of knowledge regarding perinatal management during the COVID-19 pandemic and to determine whether there was an association between that level of knowledge and a particular demographic approach. A descriptive survey design was used. The information was gathered from 50 samples taken from selected hospitals. Results: The study findings show a positive view of the knowledge of staff nurses regarding perinatal management during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to this study, 28% of staff nurses have average knowledge, 22% have very good knowledge, and only 8% have poor knowledge, with 42% of staff nurses having good knowledge. An association was found between the knowledge level of staff nurses regarding perinatal management during the COVID-19 pandemic and hospital type (p<0.05).
Lavanya, Sruthy Chandran G, Ahalya. Low blood pressure is a pervasive illness that results in organ failure and dangerously occurs. Septic shock occurs in 15.4%. Septic shock occurs once infectious bacteria enter the bloodstream causing a severe inflammatory response that leads to hemodynamic decompensation. Peripheral vascular resistance declines in septic shock, even when catecholamine levels increase. Autoimmunity involves a complex response of cellular impulses that trigger the release of many proinflammatory arbitrators. Additionally, it can immediately develop into septic shock and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome if not treated on time, and its fatality rate can be as high as 28–56%; approximately two third of the cases occur in patients with significant underlying illness. Case presentation An 18-year-old female client came to the emergency complaining of fever, cold, and coughs with expectoration for four days, generalized weakness, and breathlessness for two days. She does not have any previous history of illness and has undergone with diagnosis investigation blood test, scrub typhus, and dengue Igm x-rays where she was found that the scrub typhus positive and dengue Igm positive later, she was diagnosed with sepsis with septic shock and affect to her liver and lungs and cause MODS. Conclusion Approximately 40% of patients with sepsis may develop septic shock. Moreover, it leads to the critical condition that affects many people worldwide after sepsis; septic shock may lead to multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, which affects the body organ and cause the dysfunction of organ and, in some case, causes death. The prevention for this is early detection of disease. The septic shock leads to organ failure because the hospital mortality rate the septic shock is more than 40%.
Sagar Kamble, Ranjana Sharma, Ruchira Ankar Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Medical Surgical Nursing Practice and Research (e-ISSN: 2582-1512) https://matjournals.co.in/index.php/JMSNPR/article/view/4112 Wed, 23 Aug 2023 00:00:00 +0530 Yoga for School Students: A Review https://matjournals.co.in/index.php/JMSNPR/article/view/4187
The word „Yoga‟ has its origin from the Sanskrit word “YOKE” which refers to „to unite‟ or „to join‟. Objectives: This study examines critically the impact of COVID-19 on Nurses' preparedness towards future disease outbreaks among nurses in the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Ondo. Putting into consideration the causes, incidence and prevalence of COVID-19 among healthcare workers. Material and Methods: A descriptive research design was used, a convenient sampling method was used in selecting a sample among the Nurses' staff in the UNIMEDTH, and a questionnaire was used as a data collection tool in which 100 were distributed but only 95 were returned. Data collected were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics (SPSS). Results: The study revealed that nurses had good knowledge of COVID-19 infection control. It was further discovered that there is a significant relationship between Nurses' knowledge and preparedness toward future outbreaks of COVID-19, P=0.023. Conclusion: The study concluded that nurses in this hospital are prepared for future outbreaks of COVID-19. The government should therefore rise to ensure that the preparedness is backed up by training and retraining nurses on infection control and by making the needed resources such as personal protective equipment readily available on demand.
Mary Idowu Edward, Oguntosin Oluwaseun Caroline, Taiwo Adebayo Olomiye Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Medical Surgical Nursing Practice and Research (e-ISSN: 2582-1512) https://matjournals.co.in/index.php/JMSNPR/article/view/4279 Fri, 22 Sep 2023 00:00:00 +0530 A Study to Evaluate the Effectiveness of Skill Training Session on Bandaging Techniques among 1st Semester B.Sc. Nursing Students https://matjournals.co.in/index.php/JMSNPR/article/view/4368
The study aims to assess the effectiveness of training sessions on knowledge and skill regarding selected bandaging techniques among 1st semester B.Sc. Nursing students. The pre experimental one group pre test post test design was used and a total of 40 subjects were selected by non probability convenient sampling technique. A structured knowledge questionnaire and observational skill checklist were used to assess the pre test and post test level of knowledge and skill performance. The training session was conducted for three hours. The collected data was analysed and interpreted using descriptive and inferential statistics. In this study, it was found that on the pre test, 97.5% (39) students had an average level of knowledge whereas the remaining 2.5% (1) had a good level of knowledge and on the Post test, 97.5% (39) of the students were scored good and remaining 2.5% (1) were having an average level of knowledge. In the pre test skill performance 87.5% (35) subjects were found to be inadequate whereas the remaining 12.5% (5) had adequate skills in the post test 12.5% (5) of the students were found to be Inadequate and the majority 87.5% (35) were shown adequate skill after the bandaging technique session. The mean score before manipulation was ±8.6 and the standard deviation was ±53.70 whereas after intervention Mean score was ±17.47 and the SD was ± 109.13. The mean difference was ± 8.87. The calculated „t‟ value ± 26.25 which was a greater value compared to the critical value i.e., ± 2.05 which depicts that significance at the 0.05 level. Therefore, the null hypothesis was rejected and the research hypothesis meanwhile accepted. This outcome indicates that the training session is effective in enhancing the knowledge of nursing students towards bandaging techniques. The skill performance of the mean score before manipulation was ±3.37 and the standard deviation was ±21.09 while after intervention mean score was ±8.57 and the SD was ± 53.43. The mean difference was ± 5.2. The calculated „t‟ value ± 32.34 which was a larger value compared to the table value i.e., ± 2.05 which illustrates that highly significant at the 0.05 level. Therefore, the null hypothesis was rejected and the research hypothesis was accepted. This outcome indicates that the training session was effective in enhancing the skills of 1st semester B.Sc. Nursing students towards bandaging techniques.
Ananda Kudari, Sumangala B R, Sumalatha, B Yankamma Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Medical Surgical Nursing Practice and Research (e-ISSN: 2582-1512) https://matjournals.co.in/index.php/JMSNPR/article/view/4368 Fri, 13 Oct 2023 00:00:00 +0530
