Study To Assess the Knowledge of Auto Drivers Regarding First Aid in Selected Areas of Mysore

Overall Objectives: To assess the knowledge of auto drivers regarding first aid in a selected area of Mysore. Methodology: A descriptive study was conducted to assess the knowledge of auto drivers regarding first aid in a selected area of Mysore by using a non-probability convenient sampling technique. Results revealed that 12(40%) Auto drivers are in the age group of 25-35 years, 29 (97%) auto drivers are male, the majority 19 (63%) auto drivers are studied up to SSLC, majority of 28 (93%) auto drivers were Hindu religion, 20(66.6%) of auto drivers are from urban area majority 20(67%) auto drivers family income is <Rs10,000 and 10(43%) auto drivers are having > 10 years of experience, majority 17 (57%) auto drivers had previous awareness or training programme on First Aid, 10 (33.4%) information through books or magazines,10 (33.3%),15 (50%) auto drivers had given first aid treatment previously and 15 (50%) auto drivers not given first aid treatment previously. 50% of them have poor knowledge, 50% have average knowledge and 0% of them have good knowledge. There is a significant association found with knowledge scores of Auto drivers regarding first aid and their selected demographic variables like previous information gained through books or magazines and mass media.
