Study to Assess the Compulsive Computer Addiction & its Impact Among Adolescents

Abstract

Adolescents are more susceptible to addiction of internet and they have less ability to control their interest for internet accomplishments. In this study assessment of the compulsive computer addiction and its impact among adolescents was done by researcher. The sample size for the present study was 76 adolescents and the tool used for the assessment of compulsive computer addiction and its impact were Socio demographic variable, Rating scale and Modified computer addiction test. The findings of the study regarding usage of computer revealed that 39.5% were normal users, 39.5% had a mild computer addiction, 21.1% had a moderate addiction and none of the adolescents had severe addiction. The study also revealed that 21.1% had a mild impact, 78.9% had no any impact on academic performance, social life and familial life.
