Abstract

Existing peri-urban zones are expanding everywhere around the urban centres. For some, peri-urban expansion is parasitic, while for others it is symbiotic. Many acres of rural land are converted into partially urban property. These random growths, which are typical of rural landscapes, indicate the isolated growth of small areas. The process takes place in these 'peri-urban' areas since they are located on the periphery of cities. Peri-urban areas are described as settlements transforming and will eventually become urban settlements. Both the lack of resources and the planning and implementation of changing land use are major issues in these places. These areas must be methodically planned to include urban utilities like water supply, drainage, and most crucially, a road network connecting the CBD and nearby districts to facilitate easy traffic flow. The paper provides a review of earlier studies done to comprehend the peri-urbanization process, the connectedness of the road network, and the transportation problems in the peri-urban zones and the parent city areas. Finally, conclusions have been given .The main mode of transportation is road transport because it provide ease to move people from one place to another. Issues and causes of peri urban areas are discussed in the paper. Toady’s peri urban development is future urban growth. The development around periphery of Indore city is undergoing in a proper manner and thus provides people easily to move from city to periphery of Indore.
