Elevated water tank is a water storage facility supported by a tower and built at an elevation to give helpful capacity and pressure to a water distribution framework. The height of the elevated storage tank gives the pressure to the water supply framework. It has substantial mass assembled at the highest point of slim supporting structure and subsequently to an extremely weak against horizontal force because of earthquake. Elevated water tanks are important part of a lifeline system. Due to post earthquake useful desires, seismic safety of water tanks is most important. In the current study time history analysis of rectangular and circular elevated water storage tank was analyzed using SAP 2000 software. In this study the different types of bracing systems like single diagonal bracing, X-bracing, V-bracing, chevron bracing and baffle wall are used. As per IS 800:2007 provision K-bracing shall not be permitted in system to resist earthquake. The tank responses such as maximum nodal displacement, base shear and outcome have been in comparison for empty as soon as full tank water fills condition. From IS 11682:1985 provision when seismic loading is considered only two cases may be taken one is tank empty condition and other is tank full condition. Eventually, study discloses the importance of suitable assisting bracing configuration procedure to stay face against heavy damages of circular and rectangular elevated water storage tanks during earthquake as well as hydrodynamic pressure for impulsive and convective mode was calculated as per IITK-GSDMA recommendations for seismic design of liquid storage tanks.
