India, being the second most populated country with ample number of youth’ voluntary non-remunerated blood donations should be increased. The nursing students being an important member of the frontline health worker need to be aware of the blood donation. The nurses being the heart of the health care team need to donate blood and at the same time, they need to create awareness among the public. Methodology: A pre-experimental one-group pre-test post-test research design was adopted for this study with a total of 30 nursing students selected through non-probability purposive sampling technique from the College of Nursing: East Coast Institute of Medical Sciences at Puducherry. Data was collected using a Structured Knowledge questionnaire which comprised of Socio-demographic profile and a Questionnaire on Blood Donation. Result: The study findings revealed that the pretest mean score of knowledge was 6.03 with a standard deviation of 2.32 and the post-test mean score of knowledge was 16.82 with a standard deviation of 2.91. The calculated paired t-test value of t = 21.601 was found to be statistically highly significant at p<0.001 level. This infers that there was significant improvement observed in the post-test level of knowledge among B.Sc. Nursing students. Conclusion: The findings showed that the Structured Teaching Programme on knowledge regarding Blood donation was found to be effective in improving the level of knowledge in the post-test.
R. The research design adopted was embedded design. The conceptual framework for this study was based on modified Irvin Rosen Stock’s health belief and personal health behavioural model, 1966. The study has been conducted in selected nursing educational institutes. Non-probability Consecutive sampling technique has been adopted to select the desired sample. The total sample size was 324. The data was collected through semi-structured questionnaire. A depression scale was also used. The data was collected online through Google Forms. The collected data were analyzed by using both descriptive and inferential statistical methods. Our research found that Challenges faced by nursing students included maintaining the status of health, showing resistance to illness, dealing with stress, anxiety and depression related to health as well as academic disruption. Coping strategies adopted were watching news channels related to COVID-19, indulging in preventive behaviours such as washing hands, Health education to family members, and engaging in different forms of diversional activities such as prayer, exercise etc. Students also got adapted to online classes. This study, it is indicated that the Covid-19 pandemic has made a significant impact on Nursing students’; it poses various challenges which is dealt with student by various coping strategies.
Muniyandi. The cause of toxoplasmosis is Toxoplasma gondii. Those with CD4+ T-cell counts that are less than 200 cells/l are more likely to develop toxoplasmosis, which is typically a late consequence of H.I.V. infection. Case Presentation: A 39-year-old healthy woman who had a headache and was admitted to the hospital has been diagnosed with cerebral toxoplasmosis. The right temporoparietal lobe of the brain was shown to have a Brain magnetic resonance imaging M.R.I lesion with gadolinium enhancement that is hyper-intense, ring-enhancing, and irregular. Toxoplasma-specific IgG antibody levels were higher. Brain toxoplasmosis was identified as the cause, obtained based on the characteristics of the M.R.I., the biopsy, and the serology.
Vanlalhmangaihi, Suwarna Ghugare, Achita Sawarkar Copyright (c) 2023 Research & Review: Management of Emergency and Trauma Nursing (e-ISSN: 2582-0494) https://matjournals.co.in/index.php/RRMETN/article/view/4354 Thu, 12 Oct 2023 00:00:00 +0530 Relationship between the Level of Education of the National Health Insurance Scheme Enrollees and the Utilization of Health Care Services in Bayelsa State, Nigeria https://matjournals.co.in/index.php/RRMETN/article/view/4434
This research sought to find out the relationship between the level of education of the enrollees of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and the utilization of health care services in Bayelsa state, Nigeria. It adopted a descriptive cross-sectional design. The theoretical framework that underpins the study is the Health Care Utilization theory by Max Andersen. Data was collected via the Relationship between Level of Education & Utilization of Health Insurance Scale (LEUHIS). The LEUHIS was designed and validated by the researchers and the reliability coefficient was 0.77. A purposeful and simple random sampling was used to select 500 enrollees within the National Health Insurance Scheme in Bayelsa State. Over seventy-six percent N=300 (76.4%) of the respondents had primary and secondary education. Data was analyzed with the aid of descriptive statistics and results were presented in frequency tables. Results showed that the level of education of enrollees influences the utilization of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in Bayelsa State. Most of the enrollees N=198 (43.8%) reported that they can only receive medical care if the hospital is within the study area. The majority of the respondents N=226 (72.1%) had greater access to health services than before due to the location of NHIS in the study area. The respondents N=283(62.6%) also agree that healthcare providers demand a fee for bed from day one of hospital admission. NHIS desk officers did not educate respondents N=207(45.8%) on the benefits of enrollees who registered under the scheme. The enrollees N=157 (34.7%) also agree that NHIS only provide primary services for adults. Also, the study N=147 (32.1%) confirmed that hospitals do not treat NHIS enrollees with respect and N=304 (67.2%) disagreed that NHIS has the right to stop medical treatment due to changes in healthcare facilities. The study concluded that the educational level of NHIS users can promote the effective implementation and utilization of NHIS, hence, more sensitization should be done by healthcare providers and other relevant stakeholders on the need for individuals to enroll on NHIS.
Omineokuma, Aseminaso Tubonemi, Lawrence Ayah Iruo, Janet Ene-Peter, Dagogo-Brown Igirigi Deinabobo, Iheanji O. The GCS is used to objectively describe the extent of impaired consciousness in all types of acute medical and trauma patients. The scale assesses patients according to three aspects of responsiveness: eye-opening, motor, and verbal responses. The GCS and its total score have since been incorporated into numerous clinical guidelines and scoring systems for victims of trauma or critical illness. Objectives: The objective of the study is to assess the knowledge regarding GCS among the staff nurses of selected hospitals. Findings: Demographic variables of staff nurses are depicted in which 11 (18.33%) had adequate knowledge regarding GCS, 36 (60.00%) had had moderately adequate knowledge and 13 (21.66%) had inadequate knowledge. Conclusion: The study result revealed that the staff nurses were having lack of knowledge regarding GCS and were inadequate knowledge regarding the same these findings of the study were mind-boggling and are suggestive of a need to research to assess the effectiveness of some strategies to improve knowledge of staff nurses regarding GCS. The study shows that the majority of the staff nurses had moderately adequate knowledge and moderately adequate satisfaction regarding the effectiveness of GCS among staff nurses in selected hospitals of Bhuj-Kachchh, Gujarat.
Puneet Gangawat, Hiral Vekariya, Acharya Disha, Anisha Roy, Asari Dipali, Barot Khushi, Chhabhadiya Monica, Chudasama Nandani, Dabasiya Hastiben, Dave Divya Copyright (c) 2023 Research & Review: Management of Emergency and Trauma Nursing (e-ISSN: 2582-0494) https://matjournals.co.in/index.php/RRMETN/article/view/4457 Wed, 08 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0530
