Abstract

A case of unknown disease having symptoms like pneumonia i.e. cough, sneezing, breathlessness and spreading with exposure was registered in December 2019 at Wuhan in China. To explain the disease, a new coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, is described. World Health Organization (WHO) named this virus Corona (Covid-19) and declared that this virus spreads from one human to another by contamination and due to this tendency, it is spreading quickly in the country and all over the world. WHO also declared this virus an epidemic and total of 3,106,700 patient records, 214,645 deaths, and 944,593 recovered across the world due to this epidemic. Patients over 70 years of age are more at risk from COVID-19 compared with patients under 70 years of age. The virus curve of onset of symptoms peaked around in April. In this article the symptoms, preventions, treatment, and statics have been discussed. The real cause of the origin of this virus (Covid-19) is still unconfirmed. Although the fatality rates of COVID-19 are very less (about 2.67%) in total infected cases, if compared with SARS and MERS as early known viruses, but the area of spread and number of infected people with this virus is very high than other. In the past, successful vaccines and medications have overcome many disease threats like SARS and MERS. To fight this epidemic virus called Coronavirus (Covid-19), equally effective vaccines and beneficial medicines are required as soon as possible.
