Abstract

This article has described issues from calcium (Ca) extraction. Formation in nature has been traced by strontium containment in geo-reserve. Other sources have been scoped from abolished heritage construction as well as brine /sea water. Ca fractionation during calcite precipitation has been studied more akin to Ca isotopic composition that has arisen from constraining processes during CaCO3 formation. Factors of importance in studied fame have been (a) temperature, (b) precipitation rate, (c) solution stoichiometry, (d) crystal structure and (e) reservoir utilisation. Objectives of study have been usage of 87Sr/86Sr ratio, in order to quantify different Ca sources in various CaCO3 deposits, given by, carbonate host rock (CHR), late calcite cement (LCC), and needle fibre calcite (NFC) groups.
