Pharmacological Potential of Qninoline Derivatives
Keywords:
Antifungal, Antimalarial, Antibacterial, QuinolineAbstract
Quinoline has recently become an important heterocyclic compound due to its diverse applications in industrial and synthetic organic chemistry. It is an important scaffold for leads in drug discovery and plays an important role in medicinal chemistry. There are numerous articles now reporting on its functionalization for biological and pharmaceutical activities. Quinoline, also known as 1-aza-naphthalene, is a weak tertiary base. Quinoline ring has antimalarial, antibacterial, antifungal, anthelmintic, cardiotonic, anticonvulsant, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic activity. Quinoline not only has a diverse set of biological and pharmacological activities, but it also has a number of well-established protocols for its synthesis. The purpose of this article is to highlight the ring's diversity.
