Abstract

Infectious diseases play a significant role in pregnancy, particularly by affecting maternal and fetal outcomes. Prenatal respiratory infections may also result in stillbirth, miscarriage and preterm delivery. The Corona virus is highly contagious virus spreading from human to human by respiratory droplet infection and close contact. The main aim of this study was to assess the level of Knowledge and Attitude regarding Prevention of COVID-19 among Antenatal Mothers. Data was collected over a period of 1week in June 2021. Convenience sampling method was adopted to select the participants based on the inclusion criteria. Informed consent was obtained from the participant before collecting data. Structured interview method was used to assess the knowledge and attitude regarding Prevention of Covid-19 among Antenatal Mothers who were attending Antenatal OPD at PIMS. 15-20 minutes was spent for each study participants around 8-10 mothers were interviewed per day. The findings demonstrated majority of the Antenatal Mothers 27(54%) in the age group 24-29 yrs. Only 6(12%) of Antenatal Mothers had moderately adequate knowledge with the mean and SD was 16.96+ 1.807, whereas 30(60%) had moderately favorable attitude,19(38%) had favorable attitude and 1(2%) had unfavorable attitude with the mean and SD was 35.62 and 3.84 respectively. Our study conclude that majority of pregnant women had adequate knowledge and moderately favorable attitude towards COVID-19.
