Abstract

Corona virus infection (COVID-19) is an emerging disease caused by a new strain of corona virus called severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2; formerly called 2019-nCoV), which was first detected in Wuhan city, China during respiratory illness outbreak. The global burden of the disease can be reduced by administering vaccine effectively among public. Every year millions of lives can be saved using vaccine as the most effective and cost-efficient public health interventions. Aims and Objectives: The study was aimed to assess the attitude of rural women regarding COVID-19 vaccination. Approach and design: Descriptive study approach was used in the present study. Sampling and sampling criteria: non-probability convenience sampling method was adopted to select 60 women residing in rural areas of Mysuru. Tools and techniques: Data was collected using attitude scale. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The study revealed that majority 40% of rural women had favorable attitude towards COVID vaccine, 60% of rural women each had unfavorable attitude regarding COVID vaccine. Chi square values of level of attitude of rural women towards COVID vaccine and selected personal variable were not found to be statistically significant. Conclusion: The study concluded that creating more awareness is required to improve the attitude of public towards COVID 19 vaccination.
