Abstract

Gestational trophoblastic disease encompasses several disease processes that originate in the placenta. These include complete and partial moles, placental site trophoblastic tumour, choriocarcinoma and invasive mole. The incidence rate is 1.31 per 1000 live births. The objective of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching programmes on knowledge regarding Gestational Trophoblastic Disease. A structured teaching programme was conducted among 50 primigravida mothers from the antenatal clinic of KCG Hospital. A Pre-experimental design was used in the study. The study findings concluded that the Structured Teaching Programme was effective in improving the knowledge of primigravida mothers on Gestational Trophoblastic disease. The study findings implicated the Nursing educators to involve in more awareness programmes for pregnant mothers to prevent mortality due to Gestational Trophoblastic disease.
