Influence of Swimming Pool Positioning in Multi-Storied Buildings Subjected to Seismic Loading

This research work is about determining the risks in the placement of a swimming pool in a multistory building. Following this decision, 9 multistory building models with swimming pools in 9 various places are developed on Etabs version 2018.
For getting realistic results, relevant theories for the behaviour of Liquid Retaining Structures and multistoried buildings subjected to seismic effect are read and applied in models. The models are analyzed using the equivalent static approach and the response spectrum method. The results are then compared for hydrodynamic pressure at different floors, seismic characteristics such as story drift, story displacement, and building base shear. Stresses are observed to be more stable in multistory structures with swimming pools on lower storeys and situated in the centre as opposed to buildings with pools at the sides or corners.
