Abstract

The requirement of a multistorey building is increasing day by day because of the rapid increase in population, urbanization, land cost and decrease in land availability, but high-rise building is highly affected by lateral loads. These lateral forces keep on increasing as we increase the height of the building, so it becomes important to improve the lateral resisting capacity of multi-storey buildings. To counter these lateral loads, the Bracing system can be one of the best options. The bracing system is widely used to regulate displacement and storey drift in an effective manner. Mechanism of the bracing system is similar to truss, and it controls lateral deflection. In this study, four different types of bracing system are used for zone 3 and zone 4. Cross bracing and V bracing are widely used in the bracing system and a modified mixed diagonal type bracing is used which a combination of forward diagonal bracing and backward diagonal is bracing. Also, Mega cross bracing is used. The models are analyzed by the equivalent static method and response spectrum method. Results are compared by using ETAB 2017 software package in this study structural performance are evaluated and compared in different aspects such as storey drift, storey displacement base shear, overturning moment, storey acceleration, fundamental time period of structure in different seismic zone the use of Mega Cross-Bracing mixed diagonal bracing and shows a better performance in various seismic factors, on comparison with other bracing systems. The results obtained from different analyses suggest which type of bracing is best suitable for different seismic zones.
