Abstract

The objective this study is to observe the effects of high temperature, sulphate attack, carbonation on high strength concrete. Corrosion in reinforcement is major problem cause and leads to deterioration of concrete. In carbonation, the carbon dioxide reacts with hydrated cement and destroys its alkalinity. This affects the durability of concrete. Sulphate present soil, sea water, atmosphere, may damage the structure. Sulphate reacts with cement causing cracks and expansion. There is effect on compressive strength of concrete due to high temperature. Exposure of concrete to elevated temperature affects its mechanical and physical properties.
