Abstract

Hydropower projects are one of the most inexpensive and reliable renewable energy alternatives which can substitute conventional energy sources. As cost benefit analysis of a project represent its performance or viability the financial implication of a project is needed to be evaluated. The present study applied a cognitive method of decision making to rate different hydro-power projects, based on their financial liabilities. The projects were evaluated based on the cost incurred during the installation and operation phase. This decision making will help to identify a method for rating hydro power plants or proposed plants in terms of financial requirements. The method was developed in such a manner that the decision made from the result of the new method will be completely objective and free from emotional influence.
