Mechanical Behavior of GFRP filled with Copper Nano Particles based Composites

Abstract

The polymeric composites are being extensively used in all engineering fields. In this present work, Copper Nano particle reinforced GFRP composites have been fabricated to investigate mechanical properties for gear applications. This project focuses on the addition of copper nano particles in different proportions with glass fiber reinforced in epoxy-based composites. The copper nano particles were prepared at ambient temperature by a chemical reduction technique. The Mechanical properties (tensile, impact and hardness) tests were carried out. The results showed that, tensile properties increase till 12% wt of Cu nanooarticles, Impact strength and hardness increases with addition of Cu nanoparticles.
