Abstract

Childhood obesityWeight problems in childhood has been increasing over the past few decades and have come to be a public health situation in each developed and growing international locations. India has the second one-highest range of obese children in the international after China, in keeping with a examine, this means that that 14.4 million kids within us have extra weight. Healthcare professionals have attributed the upward thrust in weight problems to bad meals choices and lack of physical activities amongst youngsters or even adults. The present study was aimed to assess the effectiveness of video-teaching program regarding knowledge on prevention of childhood obesity among primary school children. This Pre-Experimental study was conducted among 50 primary school children’s aged 9-10 years at puducherry. Descriptive statistics was used to represent frequency and percentage of covariates and knowledge level, paired ' t' test was used to assess the effect of video assisted teaching program. Results shows that the post test mean and standard deviation was 12.41 ± 1.10, the mean difference was 10.40. The paired‘t’ test value was 45.32 which shows highly significant at the p value 0.001 respectively. Our study concluded that video teaching program related to knowledge on prevention of childhood obesity was very effective in improving knowledge level of the students which helps them to create awareness and develop a positive attitude towards healthy well-being will make them to practice a well-balanced diet and appropriate weight management in their day-to-day life.
