Abstract

In recent days, the improvement of production and quality characteristics concurrently are the major challenges that are facing by many manufacturing industries. In order to overcome this industries are adopting various machining processes and employing many optimization techniques for the right selection of the process parameters. The present work illustrates the selection of Wire EDM process parameters by using Entropy based TOPSIS approach. A series of experiments were done for EN41 steel in order to optimize the multiple performances of Material Removal Rate (MRR) and Surface Roughness (Ra). The optimization results gives the optimal combination of Wire EDM Process Parameters at TON: 115 μs, TOFF: 53 μs, WT:2 Kg-f, WF:4 m/min respectively. ANOVA results showed that Pulse-On-Time (TON) has the highest influence and Pulse-Off-Time (TOFF) has the lowest influence on the multiple responses.
