Abstract

Nowadays, with the rapid development of technology, more and more technologies are used and implemented in industry and universities in CNC systems every day, but the cost is higher. According to our idea of manufacturing compact and cheap CNC engraving machine, CNC engraving machine was introduced to reduce complexity and cost and human power. Basically, in laser engraving, the laser beam burns the top layer of the surface to be engraved. The burned area does not change color, making it look different from the surrounding surface. When performing laser cutting, the laser beam must penetrate the surface. This can be achieved by extending the length of time the beam stays on a specific area. In this project, we decided to develop a prototype working model of the laser engraving machine. The well-respected company stated that the final product there requires engraving equipment. Laser cutting and engraving are two different terms. In the case of carving compared with laser cutting, a very low-intensity laser torch is used. We briefly introduced the laser, its working principle, performance and how to control its intensity. In addition, experiments were conducted on the laser cutting and engraving machine developed.
