Abstract

The health hazards due to infected river water are increasing day by day. Lot of reasons is there but some of them are like use of modern pesticides, fertilizers and herbicides. These chemicals not only pollute the water body but also impart the agricultural lands too. Industrial effluents are also not suitable for irrigating crops. Mixing of sewage water into river body also leads to water pollution. Hence, to observe the river water quality this exercise was done. The experiment was done in the year 2018-2019. In this analysis the parameters like pH, DO, BOD, COD, Chloride, Nitrate, Sulphate, Calcium, Magnesium and Hardness was analyzed by following the standard procedures. The observed values were compared with data given by WHO. As per the analysis it is observed that the magnesium concentration is at higher range in the summer season but rest of the parameters are also at alarming stage, hence care must be taken otherwise it will be difficult to use the river water for domestic and other purposes.
