Study on Back Water Effect Due to Sardar Sarovar Project using HEC-RAS

The main aim of the present research is to conduct the analysis of the backwater at U/S of the SSP and also analyze the extent of flooding at U/S using HEC-RAS. For the study 2D unsteady flow modeling potential of HEC-RAS is used. To create the flow Geometrics of the study, the detailed land information from DEM of 30m resolution was used. For conducting the 2D unsteady modeling flow hydrograph data was used. The WSE parameter was estimated to understand the backwater extent in the U/S of SSP. The model results show that from 30 August to 1 September high flood event occurred and the area U/S of SSP got submerged. Results of this modeling are utilized for flood management, and flood warning.
