Flood has disastrous effects to surrounding environment such as erosion of land which is fertile, house inundation, severe damage to transportation system. Flood Routing is the widely used technique in areas of flood prediction, flood control, and other fields. The commonly used Hydrological model for flood forecasting is Muskingum model due to its simplicity. The best optimal parameter values of this hydrological Model is required to be obtained so as to attain better results for Flood routing. In the recent years, among metahurestic approach nature inspired algorithm have shown better efficiency for optimization in conditions where gradient based method becomes unsuitable for complex problem by Objective Function. This Paper is based on review of performance of two Nature Inspired Algorithm- Bat Algorithm and Whale Optimization Algorithm for determining parameters of Muskingum Model. In the present paper, an endeavor has been made for analyzing the performance of BA and WAO in various research studies by considering the various flood events as a benchmark and their results by this Nature Inspired Algorithm are compared with other optimization Algorithm.
