Abstract

To reduce the polluted water from car wash service centres electrocoagulation process is introduced in order to treat the car wash water for reuse. This paper includes a study to determine the efficiency of 2 different electrode combinations that is Al-steel and Fe-steel electrode and also to determine the effectiveness at various voltage ranges that is, at 10v, 20V and 30V.car wash Sample is collected from a car wash service centre located at Calicut. A sample of 800 cubic centimetres are taken in the electrolytic cell and provide a treatment time of 1hr at different electrode combination and at different voltages. Different parameters like pH, turbidity, BOD, DO and TSS was considered to evaluate the treatment efficiencies. From the study, the result indicates that al-steel electrode is the best combination at 30V. The removal efficiency of pH, turbidity and TSS were 92.39%’, 90.50%, and 89.32% respectively with al-steel combination.
