Research design: A quantitative research approach with pre-experimental one group pre-test, post-test design was adopted in this study. Objective: to evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding organ donation among staff nurses at tertiary level teaching hospital, Dharwad. Sample and sampling technique: A total of 30 staff nurses were selected by non – probability convenient sampling technique. Data Collection: The tool used for data collection was structured knowledge questionnaires, deals with knowledge on organ donation. Analysis: Collected data was analysed by using descriptive and inferential statistics in terms of frequencies, percentage, mean, standard deviation and “t test”. Results: The study finding on pre- test knowledge score was 86.66% (26) of the staff nurses had average knowledge, 6.66% (02) had good knowledge, and 6.66% (2) had poor knowledge. In post-test knowledge score 93.33% (28) of staff nurses had good knowledge and 6.66% (2) had average knowledge. The result of the study shows that pre-test mean score was 14.4 and SD was 6.056 while post-test mean score was 25.6 and SD was 4.116. The mean difference was 11.2. The obtained or calculated t value 12.54 was higher than the table value i.e. 2.05 which were highly significant at the 0.05 level of significance. Conclusion: This result clearly indicated that structured teaching program was effective in enhancing the knowledge of staff nurses regarding organ donation.
