Design, Development and Analysis of 360-degree Smart Conveyor

Abstract

Conveyors are an integral part of material handling equipment, which is used to transport several components from one place to another. When a large amount of material or if materials subjected to high temperature (casting components) need to be transported, then slat chain conveyors are used. This research paper discusses the design, development and analysis of a stainless steel slat chain conveyor for carrying casting components. In the following paper, we are bringing a modification to the system for carrying casting components. Material selection process and Numerical simulation by finite element analysis (FEA) were used to reduce the conveyor frame weight and to increase the factor of safety of the shaft to prevent it from failing. With the proposed system cost of material for the shaft and frame is reduced. This conveyor can carry 10 casting components at a time.
