Design, Analysis and Manufacturing of Multiple Drill Bit Assembly

Abstract

Manufacturing process is the steps or procedures followed, to convert the raw materials to finished products. Among the three types of manufacturing process via, metal forming process, metal joining process and metal removing process, drilling is one of the major metal removing operations widely used in all fabrication industries. They employ conventional drilling machines to serve the purpose. If conventional drilling machines are used as such many holes cannot be drilled simultaneously at a time. To overcome this difficult and to reduce the operation time of drilling, additionally multiple drill bit is modeled is designed, fabricated and is attached to the ordinary conventional drilling machine. A case study is done to validate the fabricated assembly in this work. Pro- E software is also employed to model the multiple drill bit assembly. It is found that this method is found to be cost effective and consumes less time, than the traditional procedure.
