Abstract

In developing countries landfills are situated near to cities, which may cause in release of harmful contaminants which may percolate to the groundwater and result in contamination. Municipal and hazardous waste are the main components of the landfill site which produce that harmful leachate. The main dumping site of Calicut Corporation is located in Njeliyanparambu. In this study an attempt was made to analyze about the physicochemical water quality parameters of groundwater collected from wells located nearby landfill in two different months in which one month having ten days continuous raining and to check whether raining affects these various parameters such as colour, odour, Electrical conductivity, Turbidity, Taste, pH, Chlorides, Fluorides, Total dissolved solids, hardness, Alkalinity, Acidity, salinity, Iron, Sulphates, Nitrates, E-Coli, Total coliform.
