Abstract

Online teaching and learning is inevitable as the technology in education field is advancing day by day. The present study focus on the perceptions on online learning among nursing students at selected college in wayanad. The objective of the study is, (i) to identify the base line perception scores on online learning among nursing students, (ii) to find out the association between perception scores with demographic variables, and (iii) to find out the correlation of scores with selected demographic variables. The research design adopted was descriptive design and the sampling technique used was convenience sampling technique. The tool consist of demographic data and a structured questionnaire comprising questions related to four domain areas of online learning with 43 questions. The findings of the study reveals that while cross tabulating each domain area across the composite scores, majority of them fall on medium and high scores which indicate a Positive perception to online mode of learning. The composite scores of perceptions on online learning among males were significantly different from female (t=5.0501, P=0.000). There was statistically significant difference observed in the mean scores of perception on online learning between different years of study (F=5.268, P=0.002). The composite scores of second year students was statistically significant and higher than the first year students [Mean difference = 11.14 (1.57 - 20.71), P=0.013] and third year students [Mean difference = 11.33 (1.84 – 20.82), P=0.010]. Pearson’s Correlation scores on all sub domains of online learning was significantly correlated with composite scores of perceptions on online learning.
