Problems Militating against Organization and Administration of Guidance and Counselling Services in Awka Education Zone, Anambra Nigeria

Abstract

This research work is on Problems in Organization and Administration of Guidance and Counselling Services among Counsellors in Awka Educational Zone. The population/sample of the study is all 102 counsellors within the public secondary schools in Awka Education Zone. Three (3) research questions were formulated. Data were collected using thirty (30) items structured questionnaire. The findings exposed the contemporary problems in organization and administration of guidance and counselling services in secondary schools, which are lack of fund, students’ negative attitudes towards guidance and counselling services, poor furniture materials amongst others. The result of the study also refute some assertions hitherto perceived to pose a problem to administration of guidance and counselling services in schools such as counsellors lack of professional qualifications, digression of counsellors duties amongst others. Recommendations were made and suggestions for further research works were also given.
