Abstract

Obesity is the major problem for children and adolescents. In the developed and developing countries, particularly India had a major problem for obesity and overweight. It leads to abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that presents a risk to health. The measure of obesity is the BMI. Percentages of obesity among adolescences for, In 2016 nearly 6% in girls (50 million and 8% in boys (74 million) at world level, 7.1 % of adolescents were found to be overweight and 2.4% to be obese in India. In puducherry and Karaikal regions surrounded by Tamil Nadu the prevalence of overweight and obesity ranged from 2.8% to 3.9% and 1.78% to 2.59%. Diagnostic of obesity contain, History and Physical Examination, BMI, Waist-to-hip ratio. Preventing obesity among children and adolescents: To focus the weight reduction based on work to family eating habit and activity level gradually. Change the habits and the weight will take care of itself, Be a role model. Parents who eat healthy foods and are physically activity set an example that increases the likelihood their children will do the same.
