Assessment of the Knowledge, Practice and Attitude of Staff Nurses Towards Immunization at Selected Hospitals of Vapi, Valsad District, Gujarat

Immunization saves millions of lives every year. Lack of immunization can cause sick-ness and death among children all over the world. Nurses’ knowledge attitude and prac-tice towards immunization are likely uptake vaccination, for the reason that nurses have high levels of public trust and can be effective agents of health system and immunization. The objective of the study was to evaluate, and correlate the knowledge, practice and attitude of staff nurses towards immunization. A descriptive design was adapted for the study. The setting of the study was L.G. Haria Rotary Hospital Vapi, Gujarat. 30 samples were selected by non-probability convenient sampling technique. Evaluation was done by self-structured questionnaire and likert scale on immunization. The overall result of the study showed that 80% of them had adequate knowledge and 20% of them had moderately adequate knowledge. The evaluated level of attitude showed that 83.3% of them had fa-vorable attitude and 16.7% of them had mod-erate attitude. The assessed level of practice showed that majority 80% had good practice and 20% of the staff nurses had moderate practice towards immunization. The study revealed that there was a positive, significant and moderate correlation between knowledge Vs attitude(r=0.54), knowledge Vs practice (r= 0.536) and attitude Vs practice (r=0.438) of staff nurses towards immunization at 1% level of significance. There was a significant association between knowledge and profes-sional qualification of staff nurses at 5% level of significance.
