Impact on Land use Around Metro Corridor, Specific Reference to Metro Station - A Case Study of Indore Metro

In urban areas the social, environmental and economic dimensions are dominant in the development. Cities encompass many activities like living, industry and commerce, recreation and entertainment etc. A high-quality urban environment also contributes to goal of making the city a more attractive place to work and invest. Metro rail transit is one of the most modern modes of travel in India. Metro stations have helped in growth of area surrounding it. The paper deals with the interaction between the transport and land use system in an urban area having as a case study the Indore Metro. The focus is on different metro stations of Indore metro rail project from Bhawarsala station to Mumtaj bag colony. In present work a buffer zone of 1 km radius around each station is taken under consideration for study. Maps for the making of transport and land use data were created using the Google map. Total eight parameters are considered and analysed to rank the stations, which eventually will help in deciding which station has the highest potential of development.
