Walking is the oldest and most common mode of transport, and determining pedestrian speed, flow and density carries specifically significance to scientific community. This study evaluates pedestrian flow characteristics of the area adjacent to ten different educational institutions in Chittagong city, Bangladesh. Extensive analyses have been performed to present the pedestrian characteristics mathematically and graphically in terms of speed, flow and density. The highest and lowest mean of pedestrian free flow speed for adult on sidewalk are 71.96 m/min and 61.56 m/min. Pedestrian Level of Service has been found to be F. The bottleneck and street shops are the main contributor to reduce the speed. The result will help the city planners and researchers for future pedestrian facilities enhancement.
