Stone chips and brick chips are widely used for the construction of pavement design both in rural and urban roads. These chips give a stable foundation for the construction of highway. Different types of stone chips and brick chips are available in Bangladesh. The purpose of the study is to compare various properties of brick chips and stone chips used as road aggregate. In this research, stone chips black in color and brick chips from first class bricks were used for experimental investigation. The study covers the laboratory tests i.e., aggregate impact value, aggregate crushing value, ten percent fines, flakiness index, elongation index and angularity number both for stone and brick chips. The research work found that, both the two types of specimens are within the limiting values for road construction and capable to serve as coarse material for road construction. In addition, it is observed that the quality of using black stone chips gives better result than that of the brick chips. However, the bricks chips also show a good result for road construction that is not subjected to high wheel loads.
